Each of these positions is available as a part of CML’s Residential Program. If accepted, you will live at our Center, follow our schedule, including daily meditation practice, and receive a small stipend.

Modern Monastic

The Center for Mindful Learning is changing fast. We are constantly faced by challenges that require adaptability and quick learning. We need individuals who are capable of facing unfamiliar challenges with perseverance and creativity.

Requirements:

  • A passion for spreading deep mindfulness practices

Marketing Director

The Center for Mindful Learning is currently developing a business model to bring together monastics and business leaders . Part of our business development process involves marketing business model prototypes in order to judge whether there is market traction. We are looking for an individual with marketing experience in order to aid in these efforts. The marketing director will also help market our Modern Mindfulness for schools program and more general organizational projects.

Requirements:

  • Marketing experience in businesses and/or non-profits
  • Skill in brand-building and data-driven decision making
  • An interest in innovating with a community of mindfulness professionals
  • Proficiency with social media

Responsibilities:

  • Support efforts to test products with potential customers for our sustainable business model search
  • Inform team members of effective ways to connect with different audiences
  • Bring online attention and support to CML
  • Aid in the presentation of CML’s story

Assistant Teacher

CML’s Vow is to create a contemplative culture for the modern world. A key component of a contemplative culture is a holistic and rigorous training environment with expert oversight. The Assistant Teacher will work closely with Soryu Forall, our guiding teacher, to provide such oversight.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of monastic practice in an established tradition
  • Respect and gratitude for the lineage of mystical traditions
  • Interest in adapting and possibly improving the effectiveness of traditional practice
  • Interest in both Awakening (transcending the world) and Responsibility (improving the world)
  • Fluency in English

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of both sides of the residential program (Awakening and Responsibility)
  • Oversee the day-to-day functioning of the training center (schedule, community relations, receiving gifts, managing relationships between trainees)
  • Develop and sustain relationships with donors
  • Produce written content regarding the training
  • Oversee the organization’s mission to lovingly serve all living things
  • Scrutinize the training’s ability to provide deep insight as it adapts to a new era
